We are seeking a Senior Communications/Marketing/Graphic Design major to assist in creating awareness of Reef Environmental Education Foundation (REEF)’s mission. REEF protects biodiversity and ocean life by actively engaging and inspiring the public through citizen science, education, and partnerships with the scientific community. The internship will be at our Headquarters Campus in Key Largo, Florida.
If your career path includes marketing, public relations, event planning, graphic design, video production, social media and website development, REEF will provide you the creative environment in which you may build your portfolio and take on major projects.
Short-term projects include copywriting and design of collateral pieces, new website design and development, and event planning and management. Imagination is welcomed, and the sky is the limit. Internships limited to experienced graphics professionals in Adobe Suite products. The internship provides a “quality learning” experience with regular interaction with the intern by the internship supervisor.
Duration: The bulk of work will be completed in Fall Semester, 2017
Compensation: Internship position is not compensated. Intern may be eligible for college credits. Housing is available at $400 month.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Assist with development of creative concepts and marketing strategies for promoting the work of REEF
Creating concepts into print, online and other collateral materials for direct mail, newsletters, and website
Assist in copywriting blogs, stories, media releases, newsletters and other materials for the promotional materials listed above.
As a marine conservation organization, the internship offers opportunities to gain scuba diving experience or earn a scuba certification.
Minimum 1 year of creative, design experience utilizing Adobe products
Minimum Junior or Senior Status, may be a recent college graduate
Marketing, Communications and/or Graphic Design major or minor
If a current student seeking credit: you will receive 180 supervised hours over the course of a semester
Good academic standing: not on academic probation or suspension
An upper level GPA of 3.0 or higher
Must have own transportation
Position requires flexibility in workflow
Other duties as required
