Development Services Manager

Position Summary:

The Development Services Manager is responsible for overseeing the moves management of the Symphony’s major donors and major donor prospects to realize success of the organization’s annual fund and Vision 2020 campaigns. The Development Services Manager will conduct prospect research, recommend action steps and timelines to staff and volunteer solicitors, extract lists and enter said activities into Tessitura.


The Development Services Manager will coordinate departmental meeting logistics, including arranging meeting space and securing refreshments; producing and distributing departmental meeting notices, agendas, materials, correspondences and reports; taking, proofing and distributing meeting minutes. S/he will staff Symphony concerts, events and meetings as assigned.


This self-motivated individual will be an experienced prospect research and development services professional able to succeed in a dynamic, fast-paced and growing performing arts institution.
A passion for and experience in the performing arts is essential.



q  Establish, review and maintain prospecting portfolios for individual giving officers and volunteer solicitors through list reviews, screenings, analytics and research

q  Lead department-wide prospect management meetings for both the annual fund and the 2020 campaign; enter action steps, timelines and solicitors into Tessitura

q  Prepare and send Vision 2020 Committee, Development Committee and Departmental meeting notices, agendas, and materials; coordinate meeting logistics, including venue, technology requirements, and hospitality; take and distribute meeting minutes

q  Staff Symphony concerts, events and meetings as assigned

q  Track and monitor Development Department expense and income budgets

q  Provide support to the Vice President and Chief Development Officer; oversee general departmental correspondence; maintain departmental files

q  Other duties as requested or assigned




q  Bachelor’s degree with a minimum of two years prospect research, prospect management or development services experience

q  Self-starter, able to manage multiple projects simultaneously and succeed within a fast-paced work environment

q  Excellent interpersonal, organizational and communication skills, both written and oral; fluency in English

q  Proficient in Tessitura, Microsoft Office and prospect research databases, ideally iWave

q  Diplomacy in handling the most sensitive and confidential information

q  Extreme attention to detail

q  Responsible, reliable and able to work daytime, evenings and weekends

q  Physically able to lift 35lbs, unassisted

q  Must have a positive attitude, be able to work as part of a high-functioning team, possess a knowledge of and passion for symphonic music, as well as the desire to share it with others
