The Jacksonville Zoo and Gardens is currently seeking a full-time Development Officer with responsibilities focused on engaging individuals, foundations and government entities in support of the Zoo through grant writing and annual fund development. The position also assists with event management to include special and fundraising events (Spooktacular, ZOOLights, ExZOOberation, Brew at the Zoo) and any other donor or board-related events. Applicant must be available to work special events that may occur outside of regular work schedule, including evenings, weekends or holidays, as assigned.
The ideal candidate will have a bachelor's degree, minimum of three years' successful grant writing, development and fundraising experience. In addition, the candidate must be able to interact well with individuals and organizations at all levels. Computer literacy in Microsoft Word and Excel required along with excellent communication skills is required. Familiarity with PowerPoint and Raiser's Edge Software, preferred.
Essential functions: Applicants must be able to sit for long periods of time, bend and kneel, to lift 20 pounds without difficulty, to traverse zoo grounds and operate a motorized cart to facilitate tours, greet visitors, and coordinate meetings.
